Huchen Fishing
The huchen is a very special fish, a truly incredible predator! It is highly intelligent and sensitive, and not easy to locate or target. Fishing for huchen is a unique challenge—a little competition between angler and fish, making it a truly extraordinary adventure.
The Rivers
The Tara and Lim Rivers are the southernmost refuges for huchen in all of Europe! The Tara Canyon is the deepest gorge in Europe, and fishing in the Durmitor National Park becomes an unforgettable adventure for everyone involved.
The largest fish can reach up to 130 cm! The average sizes you can expect on a one-week trip are between 80–100 cm.
The best fishing seasons in these two areas are in June and July after the closed season, and then again from mid-September to the end of February.
The Fishing Season
The huchen season starts on June 1st and runs until the end of February. Water levels are stable, allowing for comfortable fishing throughout most of the season.
